Before you start

Your email address is how you sign in to the portal, so changing it is handled carefully. The new address only becomes active after you prove you can receive mail there. Nothing changes on your account until you click a confirmation link.
Request the change
- Log in to your portal.
- In the left menu, under Manage your account, click Settings. You can also open it from your name at the bottom of the menu. The page is titled Account settings.
- Find the Email address card. Your Current email is shown but cannot be typed in.
- In New email, type the address you want to use from now on.
- If your account has a password, type it in Current password. This confirms it is really you making the change.
- Click Send confirmation link.
When it works you will see "Check your new inbox, click the link to confirm the change."
Confirm from the new inbox
Your firm sends a confirmation email to the new address you typed. To finish the change:
- Open the inbox for the new email address.
- Find the message titled Confirm your new email and open it.
- Click Confirm email.
- On the page that opens, click Confirm email change.
You will see "Email confirmed." From then on, sign in with the new address.
Important
The confirmation link expires one hour after you request the change. If it runs out, just start again from Account settings to get a fresh link.
Why nothing changes until you click
Requesting the change does not switch your email on its own. Until you open the new inbox and confirm, you keep signing in with your old address. This protects you: if the new address was typed wrong, or if someone else tried to change it, the account stays exactly as it was.
For safety, a heads-up email also goes to your old address to let you know a change was requested. If that was not you, change your password straight away.
Messages you might see
- Enter a valid email address. The new address is missing an @ or looks incomplete. Check it and try again.
- That's already your email address. The new address matches the one you already use.
- That email is already in use. Another account already uses that address, so it cannot be taken.
- Your current password is incorrect. Re-type your password in the Current password box.
- Email no longer available. Someone else claimed that address before you confirmed. Request the change again with a different address.
Note
If you sign in with a magic link and have never set a password, there is no Current password box to fill. Learn more in Reset or set your portal password.
